How to Calibrate
What is Calibration?
In rhythm games, calibration ensures that your gameplay is perfectly synced—so the notes you see, the sounds you hear, and the actions you take all line up. If you feel like you're hitting notes on time but getting bad "Perfect" ratios, your audio or video settings might be out of sync. This guide helps fix that.
- 🎧 Audio Latency: is the delay between when a sound should play and when you actually hear it.
- 📺 Video Latency: is the delay between when something should appear on screen and when you actually see it. In Festival, this value also includes Input Latency, which is the time it takes for your button press to register in the game.
Steps to Follow
- 1️⃣ Measure Audio Latency: Run the in-game calibration bot 5 times. Enter the resulting 5 "Audio Latency" values into the
Step 1
section of the calculator below and press "Calculate Audio Latency".
- 2️⃣ Enter Temporary Settings: The calculator will show you the temporary settings for the next phase. Return to the game and apply these settings (Audio Latency = Calculated Value, Video Latency =
0
).
- 3️⃣ Measure Input Latency: With these new settings, play 5 different songs. After each song, note down the "Input Average" (+/-) value shown in the stats.
- 4️⃣ Get Final Results: Enter the 5 "Input Average" values you noted down into the
Step 2
section of the calculator and press "Calculate Final Results".
- 5️⃣ Finalize Your Settings: The calculator will show you both the Standard Settings for the in-game menu and the Precise Settings for the
.ini
file. Enter these values into the game to complete your calibration!
